Girders and Diaphragms
Using very few input parameters, the system allows the user to define a simple or very complex layout of grid of longitudinal girders and transverse diaphragms that support the deck structure. The system allows for skew support, parallel or flared girder arrangement and for various options of spacing and orientation of intermediate diaphragms. Girder and diaphragm cross-section as well as bearing details are selected from a library of identifiable templates which the user could build or select from the system's default library. The 3-D geometry of girders, diaphragms, bearings, seats is tightly integrated with that of the deck as well as the supporting abutment or pier geometry. The system considers the effect of details that may affect layout of girders and bearing supports. The system produces a table that list for each girder in the structure all geometric information such as end offsets, bearing offsets, azimuth of girder C. L., skew angle with each support, length C. L. to C. L. , finished length, bearing seat elevation considering camber slope and even the dimensions of bearing recess at the end pre-cast concrete beam. The detailed geometric information allows the user to investigate several options of girder layout without worrying about the effort to perform complex and tedious calculations. The system also produces a plan layout drawing depicting the position of each girder bearing and bearing seat. Any change to the girder layout or bearing details are automatically reflected in abutment and pier drawings without the user intervention.
